History

Walton Kick Boxing Club

Walton KB Club began in 1988 under Sensei Peter Baxter (BKBU) and in 1989 Sensei Gordon Duddy took over the club as Peter wanted to concentrate on his Aiki Jitsu/Spirit Combat club.

Gordon developed the club during a very progressive 5year period, he trained a number of very good and successful fighters during this period (Graham Nile & Johnny Lester to name 2), also Keith Betts was a big part of the club at this stage as well – Gordon was a very good full contact fighter himself and had held a few National titles along the way.

Towards the end of this period a young fighter called Mark Lodge joined the Walton club, his career would eventually be quite something. Gordon (with the help of Keith) started putting on fight nights at the old Walton Leisure centre and these grew in popularity over the years as did the Walton club.

Keith took over Walton Kick Boxing club in 1994 from Gordon Duddy when he retired and continued what Gordon had started, working with a very good base and club membership he made the club one of the most respected kick boxing clubs in the South East, with many good fighters gracing the ring throughout a brilliant 15 year period – the club travelled all over the UK and to Scotland, France & the USA.

Some of Walton’s fighters were featured on Euro Sport and Sky Sports TV and Walton continued to hold 2 major fight venues to capacity crowds each year in the local Walton area.

Walton’s senior fighters won many Titles and they fought on ISKA, WKA, WCF, IKF and WKMA shows throughout the years and at all the well known venues, like the York Hall, Bethnal Green – the Corn Exchange, Brighton – Circus Tavern, Essex - Elbeuf Arena, France.

The Walton club was (and still is) very active on the light-contact circuit and competed on many shows all over the UK, it’s fighters (Juniors and Seniors) winning numerous National Titles throughout the 15 year period, the club was active in all areas and successful.

Walton Kick Boxing club has had a number of Instructors & Trainers over the years and it is still very active on all fronts, it’s Senior Instructor is now, Mark Lodge.
